THE HI - FIVE..!

August was a very exciting month for us.
The first half was spent planning the trip to Iceland. The second half was spent in the after-glow of the same. And I swore I would write it all down, catalogue it, before it wears off from the memory. Buuuttttt.....life keeps happening. So coming soon...

Meanwhile, my Tigerlily turned 5 in September. And since the birthday fell on a weekday, the party had to be on following weekend. And she was absolutely sure about having 2 cakes for both occasions and supervised it all to make sure there were no mistakes.
A chocolate cake with chocolate icing, and a "Moana'' cake for when her friends came over.

Happy Birthday my princess!

Made a simple chocolate cake with chocolate ganache, topped with chopped hazelnuts. The birthday girl loved it!! Mission accomplished! :)

Chocolate cake with ganache and hazelnuts.

The party was a small one. Just a few of her very close girlfriends. There was of course the Moana costume, for the birthday girl.

Tiger lily is not much of a fan of sweet frosting. Infant,  she avoids eating it at all. Especially the super sweet, sugary fondant kind.
The cake was vanilla sprinkle sponge with cream cheese frosting. Yeah, she doesn't mind cream cheese so much. The tanginess balances out the sweetness. Thats what she tells me. :)

Decided to keep the frosting simple. Tried to depict ocean/ beach scenario. Jazzed it up with chopped hazelnuts, shell chocolates (Gulivers), butter creme flowers and Figurines from Moana series.
She was very impressed and pleased with the end result. Couldn't wait to show it to her friends.

With another birthday coming up now in December, I think I better up my baking game.
Next, in queue is a fusion cake for Diwali.
Oh...and also my notes from Iceland trip!! Soon.........
